WHY DO WE HAVE SMALL GROUPS?
God uses small groups to make us more like His son Jesus! Because He never intended for us to live the Christian life alone, relational structures like groups are a means He uses to grow and flex our spiritual and relational muscles: “It is in small groups that people get close enough to know each other, to care and share, to challenge and support, to confide and confess, to forgive and be forgiven, to laugh and weep, to be accountable to each other, to watch over each other and to grow together. Personal growth does not happen in isolation. It is the result of interactive relationships. Small groups are God’s gift to foster changes in character and spiritual growth.” – Gilbert Bilezikian
WHY SHOULD I STUDY THE BIBLE IN A SMALL GROUP?
As you study the Scriptures and begin to apply them, you’ll learn more about what it means to be a follower of Christ, love others, and discover your next steps of faith. Studying Scripture in a small group will probably not make you the next great theologian, but it is “useful for showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, and training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us” (2 Timothy 3:16, MSG). Join a group expecting not only to learn something new, but also to test it out in a safe and encouraging environment.
HOW DO I JOIN A GROUP?
Use the link below to search all available groups. Look for the ones that meet on a day, time, and schedule you can commit to regularly. Give one or two a test drive to see which is the best fit. If your first experience isn’t a good one, don’t give up! Keep trying until you find a group that’s right for you. God created us to live together in life-giving community, but living and growing together takes time. Biblical community doesn’t just happen when a small group is formed. It takes transparency, commitment, and openness to God’s leading for a group to really come together. Attend each group meeting expecting to grow, learn, and invest in others.
